My penultimate (full) week in Belfast was very eventful and a lot of fun overall. I have already written about my experiences on Wednesday, what follows is a summary of the rest of the week until Sunday.

At work, there wasn’t much going on. We had already completed our task with the move to new certificates last week and only at the end of the week we got a new task. We should find a suitable FTP server for a customer. A list with a possible selection has already been made and we should try to find the best solution according to certain criteria.

So far, the task is quite interesting. We are working with AWS again and the first server seems to offer everything the customer needs.

On my way home

Friday night I met Jacob and Steven at Ormeau Park to play basketball. Those of you, who have known me for a long time, know that I played basketball for a long time (over 10 years) and that’s why I was happy to shoot some hoops again. Soon there were a few more “locals” who wanted to play and so we quickly started a game 4 against 4. Oh boy, I have to work on my endurance… But it was so much fun that Jacob and I spent about 2.5 hours in the square and staggered home completely exhausted.

Normally my evening would have ended after the shower and I would have gone to bed. But I had already sayed yes to a pubcrawl with Laura (and Franzi) from the treasure hunt on Wednesday. Of course I didn’t want to miss it. After a refreshing shower I went right back to join at the first pub House Belfast, albeit barely an hour late. A short time later we went to Town Square, which was just a stone’s throw away.

Laura and Franzi had visited a language school in their time here and the Pubcrawl was organized by a tutor. That’s why the group was super interesting and I met a lot of new people. Germany and Switzerland were the most represented, but also Brazil, Italy etc. Maybe there were other nationalities – there were so many people there and I didn’t have the chance to talk to everyone.

Finally we ended up at a club called Limelight. Funnily I met classmates there who wanted to go dancing independently.

I had to say goodbye at 1 am (although the club was closing at 2 anyways). The day was very long and I had already agreed to meet Jacob, Leon and Steven at the next morning.

Pokemon Go Community Day

On Saturday was the Pokemon Community Day at 10am. After a long time out of the game, I started playing in Belfast for a few weeks since I walk around so much here. So you can pass the time while walking well. The Community day was a lot of fun. There were an awful lot of other players along with us in Ormeau Park. Groups of 2-7 players were passing us constantly, who were playing as well. At one time there were 50-80 players on one spot…

In the afternoon I met a couple of schoolmates. Actually we wanted to go to the Belfast Titanic Maritime Festival but we were all still a little bit exhausted, so we just cooked something together and played some card games. The next day I had to get up early again. But I’ll tell you about it in a separate entry 😉
